At least 12 people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a pickup truck on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Kanaipur Union under Faridpur Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

According to local sources, a Magura-bound Unique Paribahan bus collided with a Dhaka-bound pickup, leaving 12 people dead on the spot.

Karimpur highway police station Officer-in-Charge Md Salauddin Chowdhury said after receiving the information, the bodies of the deceased were recovered. Initially, it was not possible to know the name and address of the injured. It is believed that a family was returning to Dhaka after the Eid holiday by renting a pickup.
