Sixteen people have been nominated for the Bangla Academy Literary Award-2023 for their outstanding contribution in different spheres of literature.
Bangla Academy announced the names of the nominees on Wednesday in a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will hand over the awards at the inaugural ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair-2024 scheduled to begin on February 1, said the release.
The award recipients are: Shamim Azad (poetry), Nuruddin Jahangir and Salma Bani (fiction), Zulfiker Matin (essay/research), Saleha Chowdhury (translation), Mrittika Chakma and Masud Pathik (drama), Tapankar Chakrabarty (juvenile literature), Afroza Parvin and Asaduzzaman Asad (research on Liberation War), Saifullah Mahmud Dulal and Md Mojibur Rahman (research on Bangabandhu), Inam Al Haque (science/science fiction/environmental science), Ishak Khan (biography/reminiscences/travelogue) and Tapan Bagchi and Suman Kumar Das (folklore).
