The government has reshuffled six top police posts, appointing recently promoted Additional Inspector General of Police Md Kamrul Ahsan as chief of the Special Branch (SB).

The Home Ministry issued a notification on Thursday, signed by Tawsif Ahmed, deputy secretary of its Police-1 branch.

Kamrul Ahsan, who was serving as a DIG at Police Headquarters, was recently promoted to Additional IGP and appointed SB chief.

Under the reshuffle, SB chief Sardar Nurul Amin has been transferred to Police Headquarters, Tourist Police chief Mainul Hasan has been appointed principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarda, GM Azizur Rahman has been made chief of the Tourist Police, and Khulna Range DIG Md Mostafizur Rahman has been transferred to Dhaka Range as DIG.

Meanwhile, recently promoted Additional IGP Iqbal Hossain, who was serving as Dhaka Range DIG, has been posted to Police Headquarters.
