Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested two leaders of the Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) in a raid in Bandarban. RAB-15 men arrested them in a special operation on Sunday afternoon.

The arrested Kuki-Chin leaders are Cheosim Bom (55), one of the chief coordinators of the organization’s Central Committee, and Rowan Lin Bom (55), a KNF leader.

According to RAB, Rowan Lin Bom led the armed KNF members in Jurbhang Para, Khamtang Para, Painxiang Para and Raunin Para areas in Ruachhari Upazila. On the other hand, Cheosim Bom has a kinship relationship with Bom militant leader Nathan Bom. Cheosim is the son of the deceased Rowal Khoo Bom of Sharan Para in Bandarban.

RAB-15 said that details about the arrest of two KNF members will be announced on Sunday afternoon.

Earlier, hundreds of armed miscreants enclosed the Ruma branch of Sonali Bank in Bandarban and the surrounding area during Taraweeh prayers last Tuesday night. Eyewitnesses said that they took the bank manager Nezam Uddin from the mosque and beat him inside the bank. Later he was kidnapped.

At that time, 10 policemen and 4 Ansar members engaged in security of the bank were disarmed and 8 Chinese automatic rifles, 2 SMGs, 4 short guns, and 415 rounds bullets were taken away. At this time, 2 policemen were injured. 16 hours after this incident, two more banks were robbed in Thanchi.

RAB rescued the kidnapped Sonali Bank official Nezam Uddin from Ruma Bazar on Thursday (April 4) night.
