Police said the individuals were detained based on intelligence information and their identities and affiliations are being verified

Police detained 23 people during what they described as a secret meeting at the Tejgaon College mosque of Farmgate in Dhaka on Friday.

The 23 were detained based on intelligence information. However, police have yet to confirm their organizational affiliations and are verifying their identities and backgrounds, said Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Ibne Mizan.

Law enforcement sources said the detainees were suspected of having links to a militant organization. Several teams from the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit, along with police personnel, were at the scene.
