Speakers at a meeting on Thursday stressed the need for ensuring smooth supply of fertilizers for the farmers in Thakurgaon district.

They made the remarks at a view exchange meet with fertilizer dealers in Haripur upazila of the district.

Mohammad Rafiqul Haque, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Thakurgaon attended the event as chief gust, while Chandan Kar, UNO of Haripur Upazila presided over the meeting organized by Haripur Upazila administration at its compound.

DC said that the fertilizer dealers have an important role in ensuring timely supply of fertilizer to the farmers. He called upon all concerned to work together to ensure undisrupted fertilizer distribution and protect farmers’ interests.

The participants also put much importance of maintaining mutual understanding, cooperation and coordination between farmers and fertilizer dealers to strengthen fertilizer distribution management effective with special focus on upholding farmers’ interests.

The event highlighted the issues of remaining vigilant against illegal hoarding, selling fertilizer at exorbitant prices and creating artificial crisis.

Following the view exchange meeting, a coconut sapling was planted at the premises of Haripur Upazila Parishad as part of effort to sustain the momentum for environmental balance and green revaluation.
