Gopalganj Correspondent:

At least three people were killed and 30 others injured after a passenger bus lost control and fell into a roadside ditch in Muksudpur, Gopalganj.

The accident occurred beside the Gerakhola Bridge on the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Muksudpur upazila at around 10:45am on Sunday (6 September).

Sixteen of the injured were admitted to Muksudpur Hospital in critical condition.

Md Azadur Rahman, a sergeant of Bhanga Highway Police Station, confirmed the incident.

Police said the Dhaka-bound Tungipara Express bus from Khulna lost control and plunged into a roadside ditch near Gerakhola Bridge, leaving the vehicle wrecked and three passengers dead on the spot.

After being informed, police and Fire Service personnel rushed to the scene and rescued the victims.

The identities of the deceased could not be confirmed immediately. Police fear the death toll may rise.
