Family cards have been distributed to 654 women in Ward No. 3 of Kawakola Union, a remote char area in Sirajganj Sadar Upazila.

On Saturday afternoon, after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman pressed the button on his laptop virtually from Chandpur, Tk 2,500 reached to each cardholder’s mobile phone.

After the Prime Minister’s inauguration, Power, Minerals and Energy Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku officially handed over the family cards to the women at the auditorium in Sirajganj town.

The beneficiary women expressed their joy after receiving the family cards. At the same time, they prayed for the Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and former President Ziaur Rahman.

Family card holder Mst. Peer Khatun, Mst. China Khatun and Mst. Kohinur Khatun said that, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman had announced to provide family cards before the election. He has implemented that pledge within three months of the election.

They said that, with the money from the family card, we will be able to meet the daily needs of our children, including education expenses and medicines.

Parliamentarian Amirul Islam Khan Alim, VP Aynul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu, District BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, along with administration officials, beneficiaries and party leaders and activists were present at the family card distribution ceremony.
