Seven more people died with measles symptoms across the country in the past 24 hours, taking the number of deaths with confirmed measles this year to 100 and deaths with measles symptoms to 919.
The combined death toll from confirmed measles and measles symptoms now stands at 1,019, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS disclosed the figures in its regular health bulletin on Saturday.
Five of the seven deaths were reported in Dhaka during the 24-hour period from 8am on Friday to 8am on Saturday. During the same period, 855 new patients with measles symptoms were admitted to hospitals across the country.
Of the newly admitted patients, 377 were in Dhaka division, 55 in Rajshahi, 121 in Sylhet, 200 in Chattogram, 60 in Barishal, 37 in Mymensingh, 31 in Khulna and four in Rangpur.
According to the DGHS, 150,202 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals across the country since 15 March. Of them, 144,465 have recovered and been discharged.
The number of suspected measles cases has reached 170,638 since 15 March, while 20,006 cases have been confirmed as measles.
