Rizwana: Educational institutions to reopen soon

Educational institutions in Bangladesh would reopen as soon as possible, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, the adviser for the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, has said.

She made the announcement after the first meeting of the new government’s advisers.

The meeting, held on Friday at the Jamuna State Guest House, also included the chiefs of the three armed forces, the inspector general of police, and various ministry secretaries.

Following the meeting, Rizwana Hasan told journalists: “We aim to open educational institutions as soon as possible. Currently, there is no traffic police on the roads, and students are managing traffic. Given this situation, we cannot commit to opening schools immediately. We will discuss with the teachers’ and make efforts to restore the educational environment while considering the law and order situation.”

Syeda Rizwana Hasan also mentioned that students will be involved in the management of ministries under the new advisers. Details on how this will be implemented and its structure will be determined later.

Present at the meeting were also Nahid Islam, Adviser to the Ministry of Post, Telecommunication, and Information Technology, and Asif Mahmud, Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, both of whom are coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement.
