3 held with 557 bottles of Phensidyl in Sirajganj

Rapid Action Battalion RAB-12 in a drive at Hatikumrul area in Sirajganj district arrested three drug dealers and recovered 557 bottles of Indian Phensidyl on Thursday night at around 1:05am. During the drive, the RAB members also seized a truck in this connection.

The arrested were identified as Md, Rabiul Islam, 29, son of late Masum Akanda of village Dakshmin Krishnapur under Phulbari thana, Md, Rabbani, 35, son of Md, Nurul Islam of Kalyani Baza’ar village under Birgunj thana and Md, Shofiqul Islam, 21, son of Abdus Salam of Kusumbi village under Kotwali thana of in Dinajpur district, Osman Gani, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) and also Ops Officer of RAB-12 confirmed the matter to the media through a press briefing.

According to the briefing, RAB-12 members conducted an anti-drug operation in front of new Mayer Anchol restaurant at Hathikumrul area on the Dhaka-Bogura highway under Salangga police station and recovered 557 bottles of Phensidyl after a search. The RAB members also arrested the three persons in this connection and seized a truck, which was used to carry their illegal goods.

During the preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed their involvement and said, they had been engaged in selling and transporting such as drugs in the area for long.

The accused were handed over to the Salangga thana police and a case was lodged with the same police station in this connection.
