Abul Hayat is a popular name in the country’s acting arena. He has been acting regularly since the 60s. This veteran actor is both a playwright and a director.

The artiste, who has maintained his momentum in acting and writing for more than six decades, unveiled his autobiography titled “Robi Poth” at the art gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the capital on Saturday evening.

Actors Tariq Anam Khan, Naresh Bhuiyan, Sara Zaker, Aupee Karim, Rawnak Hasan and others spoke at the event.

Later, Abul Hayat spoke to the media about the idea of writing an autobiography.

The Ekushey Padak-winning- artiste said, “Suddenly, I felt that there are many incidents in life. I have seen many things since childhood. I have highlighted them seriously in the book. The children of this generation do not even know, there are many such old incidents. My family and friends all encouraged me. Later, I thought, I will write it.”

“I think there is a good side to write an autobiography. I have a journey of 80 years; I have seen many things, which many may not know. So if people like me, write autobiographies from their own perspective, then it is definitely good for the new generation”, he added.

The actor has compiled the book “Robi Poth” with various stories, conversations and incidents from his life. He also said that it took almost a decade to complete the book.

Abul Hayat said that his autobiography is named after his nickname Robi.

Born on 7 September 1944 in Murshidabad, India, Abul Hayat moved to Chattogram with his family in 1947. He took to the stage to act at the age of just 10. The actor is still involved in acting.

He has been acting in TV dramas since 1969. In his long acting career, he has acted in several films including “Aggatonama”, “Aguner Poroshmani”, “Joyjatra”, “Gohine Shobdo”, “Daruchini Dwip”  and others.
