Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan-starrer film “Dorod” was released in 21 countries alongside Bangladesh on Friday. Directed by Anonno Mamun, it has been shown in 84 theaters across the country. This is the first time in five years that a Shakib Khan’s film has been released in Bangladesh without a festival.

In a conversation with Kolkata’s Anandabazar Online, Anonno Mamun discussed the film’s release. The director said, “I was a little worried at the beginning as we are releasing it without any festival. But the way I’m getting the audience’s response, I’m not worried anymore. The response is very good. The shows are getting housefull. All the shows on Friday have already been housefull. I hope the film will set a new example.”

The story of the film is made in the context of India. But why is the film not being released in India on Friday? Answering this, Anonno Mamun said, “Initially, there was a plan to release it together. But we backed out thinking of ‘piracy’. So, Dorod will be released in India two weeks after its release in Bangladesh.”

“The story is Indian. There are actors from various industries in India. The film will be released in all-India. I hope the Indian audience will also watch the film,” he further added.
