Popular Bangladeshi singer James will perform in Saudi Arabia after getting an invitation from the Saudi government. The rock legend will mesmerise the audience at Al-Suwaidi Park in Riyadh on 22 November as part of the “Bangladesh Culture” segment of the high-profile “Riyadh Season”.
“Riyadh Season” is a cultural festival aimed at showcasing global talent and fostering international exchange. Since 2018, restrictions on entertainment have been lifted in Saudi Arabia, reopening cinema halls and launching festivals, concerts, and fashion shows. “Riyadh Season” is part of this cultural shift.
Organised by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Media, this year’s “Riyadh Season” features artistes from nine countries, including Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan. Began on 12 October, the 45-day event will continue till November 30.
“Bangladesh Week,” for the festival will be held from 20 to 23 November. Each participating country is allotted a week to showcase its music, dance, and traditional cuisine.
About the concert, James manager Rubaiyat Thakur said, “We are going to Riyadh for the first time on the invitation of the Saudi government on 20 November. The audience will be able to listen to music for free in the event. Hope it will be a good show. I’m inviting all expatriate Bangladeshis to enjoy the concert.
