Teerondaz Repertory’s theatrical debate “Bagbitanda” has got permission after eight years. The debate and performance to raise awareness about saving the Sundarbans, was scheduled to be performed on 20 July 2016, but the play was canceled due to lack of permission from the Shilpakala Academy.

After the fall of Sheikh Hasina government, Teerondaz Repertory has finally been given the green light to return to the stage at Shilpakala.

The theatrical debate will begin at 4:00pm on Friday at the National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy. The event is open to all. The topic of this debate is that instead of opposing a legitimate dictatorship, cooperation helps in the speed of development.

Actor and director Deepak Suman will advocate for the dictatorship, while Professor Anu Muhammad will present the counterargument. The audience will have the opportunity to participate by testifying or advocating for either side.

Two shows of Teerondaz Repertory’s acclaimed production “Konthonalite Surjo” will also be held followed by the debate “Bagbitanda”. The first show will begin at 5:30pm and the audience will enjoy the second performance at 7:00pm onward.

Written by Mohit Chattopadhyay and directed by Deepak Suman, the play revolves around a stranger who comes to a hospital and tells the doctors that he has the sun stuck in his throat. The people in the hospital start to make fun of the stranger against his strong conviction to place the sun on his heart, or elsewhere. With these kinds of symbolic and philosophical nuances. Thus, the play story of the play continues.

“Konthonalite Surjo” is the sixth production of the troupe. The probable cast of the play includes Kazi Toufikul Islam Emon, Deepak Sumon, Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, Shayor Niyogi, Yoshiya Joydeb Das, Romin Majumdar, Nishan Siam and others.
