Director General (DG) of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Md Shahidur Rahman has suggested to form a special force to fight organized crimes such as terrorism and militancy.
“There should be a special force alongside the regular one in any name like in many countries across the globe to curb specially organized crimes like militancy and terrorism,” he said.
The RAB chief made the remarks to the media when he was approached for his comment about the suggestion of disbanding RAB, a security force accused of being involved in extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances, by the Commission on Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances.
RAB is currently under US sanctions for serious human rights violations.
The five-member commission led by retired justice Mainul Islam Chowdhury handed over the report titled “Unfolding The Truth” to Chief Adviser of the interim government Professor Muhammad Yunus at the state guest house Jamuna on Saturday.
