Daily Sun journalist Md Jahidul Islam has received the Bioscope Star Award-2024 in recognition of his contribution to journalism.
Cultural personality Peerzada Shahidul Harun and Justice Siddikur Rahman Miah, former Justice from the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and ex-President of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) handed over the award to Md Jahidul Islam at a ceremony held at Kendriyo Kochi Kachar Mela in the capital’s Segun Bagicha area on Tuesday.
Bioscope Sangskrittik Foundation organised the award ceremony to mark their 12th anniversary.
About the award, Jahidul Islam said, “I’m thankful to the Bioscope Sangskrittik Foundation family. The award, which has been given to me in recognition of my work, will boost me up to be more dutiful towards my work. I’m very happy and feel honoured to receive this award. Please keep me in your prayers.”
Born on 3 March 1989 in Jashore, Md Jahidul Islam began his journalism career with Dainik Samachar, a Bengali daily, in 2010 when he was a student at Dhaka University. He later joined The Bangladesh Today, an English daily, as a Dhaka University reporter. He is now a sub-editor at the Daily Sun, one of the leading English newspapers in Bangladesh.
Throughout his career, Md Jahidul Islam has received a number of awards, including Bangladesh-Bharat (India)-Singapore (BaBhaSi) International Film Award and Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award for his contributions to journalism.
Jahidul Islam currently serves as the International Affairs Secretary of the Bangladesh Cultural Reporters’ Association (BCRA) and as Joint Secretary of the Greater Jashore Journalists’ Forum Dhaka.
