A girl has committed suicide after hearing the news of her boyfriend’s death in Shahazdpur upazila of Sirajganj district.

The victim was identified as Sudipta Das Keka, 26, daughter of Atal Krisna Das of Shahapara village in Shahzadpur municipality. She was also honours student of Shahzadpur Government College and a local singer.

Victim’s family sources said, Keka committed suicide taking drug (gas tablet) on Tuesday, while she came to know that her boyfriend Madon Karmaker, 30, son of Bikash Karmaker of Garadaho village in the same upazila committed suicide in Bogura by hanging himself from a ceiling on Monday night.

Victim’s family sources further said that, Madon, who used to serve in Bogura, developed an extra marital affair with Sudipta hiding his previous married information.

Aslam Ali, Officer in Charge of Shahzadpur PS confirmed the matter to media.
