Suriya’s 44th film, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, finally has a title. On the occasion of Christmas, the makers revealed that the film will be called Retro. Along with the announcement, they also released an exciting title teaser promo.

Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj’s highly-anticipated film finally has a title. Titled Retro, the makers announced the same with an exciting title promo on Christmas. Retro is an all-in-all gangster drama which also stars Pooja Hegde in an important role.

Sharing the link of the title teaser on his official X handle, Suriya wrote, “Merry Christmas Dear All #Retro Summer 2025. Meet you all soon!@karthiksubbaraj @hegdepooja @C_I_N_E_M_A_A @Music_Santhosh @kshreyaas (sic).”

The two-minute, five-second teaser opens with Suriya’s character and Pooja Hegde’s character sitting by the serene banks of a ghat in Varanasi. Pooja is draped in a light pink sari, while Suriya exudes charm in a black kurta. As she ties a sacred band around his wrist, he gazes into her eyes and, speaking in Tamil, declares: “I will control my temper. I will stop working with my father. Violence, rowdyism, hooliganism. I’ll leave it all behind from this moment. I’ll try to smile and be happy. The purpose of my life—in your words, my Dhammam—is love. Pure love. That’s it. I’m laying it all out, honestly and directly. Now, tell me—should we get married?”

On October 6, he announced the shoot wrap. Sharing pictures with the film’s cast, Suriya expressed his admiration for the movie’s director. “A wholesome, happy shoot got done across several locations. Lots of memories with the super talented cast & crew. I made a brother for life @karthiksubbaraj. Thank you & our team for making #Suriya44 a memorable experience. #ShootWrap (sic).”

Suriya was last seen in Kanguva. The film also starred Bobby Deol as the antagonist.
