Prominent Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni is no stranger to the spotlight. With numerous successful films and a growing presence on OTT platforms, she has captured the hearts of her audience time and again. Now, for the first time, the celebrated actress is making her debut in Kolkata’s film industry with “Felubakshi”, which is set to release today across West Bengal, India.
Speaking exclusively with this correspondent, the “Swapnajaal” and “Gunin” famed actress shared her excitement and thoughts on the release of her first Indian film.
How do you feel about your first film releasing in Kolkata?
I’m thrilled! This is a huge moment for me. “Felubakshi” is my first film in Kolkata, and as an artist, this makes me really happy. Not only is the film being released in Kolkata, but it’s also being premiered across the entirety of West Bengal. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that audiences there will get to see the film from today. I’m sending all my love for “Felubakshi”.
WILL YOU BE VISITING KOLKATA FOR THE PREMIERE?
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it. I had planned to spend 22 days in Kolkata, promoting the film and meeting the audience. However, due to visa issues, I couldn’t go. I had everything planned, and it’s disappointing that it didn’t work out. Even though I can’t be there in person, “Felubakshi” will be on the big screen, so in a way, I’ll still be present with the audience.
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WORKING WITH SOHAM CHAKRABORTY?
Soham is an incredible actor and a really kind person. It was a pleasure to work with him. What more can I say that people don’t already know? He’s very talented, and it was a great experience. The entire cast and crew were wonderful. I’m grateful to everyone, especially since I was working on the film while my baby was still young, and they showed me such care and kindness. I’ll always cherish that.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR ROLE AS LABONYA IN “FELUBAKSHI”.
Labonya is a complex, mysterious character, and I did my best to bring her to life. I’ve grown to love this character, and I hope the audience will appreciate my portrayal. If they do, all my effort will have been worth it.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO KICK OFF THE NEW YEAR WITH A FILM RELEASE?
It feels fantastic! In fact, this isn’t the first time a film of mine has been released in January. Last year, “Adventure of Sundarbans” was released around this time, and the year before that, another of my films came out in January. It’s become a bit of a tradition for me! But this year is extra special since my film is being released internationally.
