In Narayanganj’s Bandar area, a truck collision killed an autorickshaw driver and injured three passengers on Sunday morning, prompting the victim’s family members and locals to block the road in protest.

The police later intervened to bring the situation under control.

The incident occurred near the Bandar Bus Stand area. The injured were rescued and sent to a local hospital for treatment.

The deceased, Asad Mia, 50, was the son of the late Amir Hossain from the Purana Bandar area. The identities of the injured passengers have not yet been confirmed.

According to local sources, the speeding truck hit the autorickshaw while it was heading towards Madanpur with passengers.

The impact caused the driver to be thrown from the vehicle, killing him on the spot.

Three passengers inside the autorickshaw were injured and are receiving treatment at the Bandar Upazila Health Centre.

The deceased’s body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy.

In response to the accident, the victim’s family and agitated locals blocked the road using tree trunks, disrupting traffic on both sides.

The police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Bandar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tariqul Islam said: “The truck driver has fled. Efforts are underway to identify the culprits. The agitated crowd has been pacified and sent home. Legal action will be taken regarding this incident.”
