At least 15 shops were gutted in a devastating fire at Khekuani Baza’ar in Amtoli upazila of Barguna district in the midnight of Tuesday. The loss from the fire was estimated at around Tk 50,000, said fire service sources.

According to the fire service and civil defense officials, the devastating fire that broke out at around 1:15am spread to at least 15 shops rapidly.

On information, fire fighters reached to the spot and with the help of locals extinguished the fire after a fanatic effort for an hour.

In the preliminary stage, the fire fighters apprehended that, the fire might have been originated from electrical short circuit.

Md. Ashraful Alam, UNO of Amtoli upazila visited the spot on the following day (Tuesday) and assured the affected traders to provide financial support for their rehabilitation.
