Cabinet Secretary Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid on Saturday said, “I want to work to remove corruption and ensure good governance for the sake of nation. The rein of corruption from all projects must be pulled. Plundering of the government money in the name of development should be stopped now.”
He came up with the remarks, while addressing a view exchange meeting as chief guest at the premises of Chakdori Khoritola Primary School in Kaliganj upazila of Satkhira district on Saturday.
The programme was organized by Kaliganj upazila administration on the occasion of providing health care service and distributing of blankets among the poor and ultra poor people in the area.
Md. Mustak Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner in Satkhira presided over the programme.
He also said, “The interim government has taken initiative to stop many mega projects with the aim to root out the corruption in the name of development. Money of many projects is misappropriated by the contractors and concerned officials after completing 20 to 30 percent of the works during the Awami League regime. Consequently, people have deprived of proper services. In contrary, some government officials and political personalities get opportunities to be multimillionaire. The incumbent government is now trying to curb such type of corruption and irregularities.
Hinting the doctors, he further said, physicians must come to serve for people. Earning a lot of money in the name of health service is not a sole means. If doctors provide proper health care service to the people, country will get a healthy and stronger nation.
