Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have recovered four lakh yaba pills during a drive in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar, said the border force this Thursday morning (February 6).

BGB, however, could not detain anyone in this regard.

A media release, signed by Lt Col Ashiqur Rahman, commandant of the BGB-2 battalion, was issued on Thursday.

Two BGB teams took position in Adomer Jhora area by the Naf River along Teknaf border after being tipped-off that a big haul of yaba would enter Bangladesh from Myanmar by river route.

Around 1:30am, some five people on a boat were trying to enter a jungle in Bangladesh territory after crossing the river, the media release reads.

Sensing the presence of BGB, the people on the boat fled in the jungle leaving behind the yaba pills, BGB said.

Later, four lakh pieces of yaba pills were recovered from several bags and legal processes were underway in this regard.

The BGB are trying to identify those involved.
