A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on Sirajganj District Awami League President Advocate K M Hossain Ali Hasan and his three family members.
The family members include his wife Begum Golnur, daughter Hasna Hena, general secretary of Sirajganj Mohila Awami League, and son-in-law Abdus Salam (Jahangir), deputy general manager of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Friday following a petition from Abu Sayeed, Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The petition stated that an investigation is underway against Advocate Ali Hasan regarding allegations of acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income by exploiting political influence. It also mentioned that since August 5, 2024, after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government, Hasan and his daughter Hasna Hena, a former Women Vice-Chairman of the Sadar Upazila, have gone into hiding.
“There is a possibility that they might flee the country at any time. Therefore, it is necessary to impose a travel ban on them,” the petition read.
The petition further noted that Hasan is an accused in multiple cases filed against him.
