A court here on Wednesday (March 5 ) ordered to freeze 39 bank accounts belonging to former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury (Javed) with Tk5.26 crore over graft allegations.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order, accepting a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
The anti-graft body in its plea said the ACC has already formed a team to probe allegations of money laundering against the former minister. During their investigation, it was learned that the accused may try to hand over his
movable properties and for the sake of justice, his bank accounts should be frozen.
On 7 October 2024, the court imposed a travel ban on Saifuzzaman Chowdhury and his wife Rukmila Zaman. Another court ordered to attach the immovable properties owned by Chowdhury and his family on 17 October.
