Trains collide in Rajshahi for wrong signal

A collision between two trains occurred in Rajshahi due to a wrong signal.

Since there were no passengers on board, no casualties were reported.

The incident took place around 2:00 PM on Saturday along the Rajshahi Railway Station, involving the Dhumketu Express and the Banglabandha Express.

One of the trains was heading towards wash pit for cleaning, while the other was exiting the wash pit.

Western Region Railways General Manager Mamunul Islam confirmed the incident, stating that the Banglabandha Express was exiting the wash pit when, due to the wrong signal, the Dhumketu Express entered the adjacent track. The two trains then collided side-by-side, causing their bogies to derail. Fortunately, as there were no passengers, no fatalities occurred.

The General Manager also mentioned that rescue operations have begun. But due to the accident, there will be delays in the departure of both trains.

It is uncertain when the trains will resume their journey with passengers. Authorities will take necessary action against those responsible for the mishap, aaded the railway official.
