Kaiju No. 8 is once again set to take the world by storm with its Season 2 release set for July 2025. Before the popular Shonen Jump action series returns for the summer 2025 season, a brand-new trailer showcasing an ambitious new project was recently released.

Akatsuki Games, the Japanese game company behind Tribe Nine, released a new trailer for its video game adaptation of Kaiju No. 8. The upcoming turn-based action role-playing game will take Kaiju No. 8 fans further into the world of Shonen Jump’s latest global hit. It will not only retell the anime’s storyline from Season 1 but also feature original stories exclusive to the video game. Kaiju No. 8 will soon be available for mobile devices and PC via Steam, but a pre-registration campaign is already underway.

As the official game page on Steam describes, Kaiju No. 8 the Game will allow players to “Crush colossal Kaiju with a game-changing blow!” Exhilarating attacks and intuitive controls are highlighted as key features of the game, along with stunning visuals that faithfully recreate the anime world of Kaiju No. 8. Players can “Feel the raw power of Kaiju No. 8’s signature punch, the razor-sharp precision of Soshiro Hoshina’s blades, and the earth-shattering power of Kikoru Shinomiya’s ax! All brought to life with stunning, high-end graphics! Relive the anime’s gripping story, discover exclusive original narratives, and delve into the untold stories of your favorite characters!”

The original Japanese voice cast for Kaiju No. 8 returns for the upcoming video game adaptation, including:

Kaiju No. 8 the Game will be available to download for iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as PC via Steam. According to the app store listing, the game will be released on August 31, 2025. Pre-registration is currently available, with special in-game rewards promised to players if registration milestones are achieved before its summer release.

Kaiju No. 8 Season 1 ran for 12 episodes from April 13, 2024, to June 28, 2024. The Shonen Jump monster series had an unorthodox global streaming release, with new episodes premiering on Crunchyroll and the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Additionally, new episodes of Kaiju No. 8 on Crunchyroll were released simultaneously with the Japanese broadcast, resulting in increased viewership, particularly among Gen Z viewers who typically don’t follow “appointment-viewing” programming.

Crunchyroll describes Kaiju No. 8 as a story revolving around “Kafka Hibino, a 32-year-old longing to join the Defense Force and make good on his promise to a childhood friend, Mina Ashiro. He befriends a new coworker, Reno Ichikawa, while cleaning up Kaiju remains. His determination to join the Defense Force inspires Kafka to fulfill his childhood promise to pass the entrance exam and join Mina to protect humanity. When a small Kaiju burrows itself inside Kafka, he gains superhuman strength and powers fit for fighting Kaiju. He works to earn the trust of his human teammates, defeat increasingly powerful Kaiju, and keep the world safe.”
