Police arrested two persons from Circuit House area in Sirajganj town on Wednesday evening on charge of abducting and aiding to rape a class-IX student on her way to school.

Latter, they were also sent to jail through a court on Thursday.

The arrested are Solaiman Hossain, 35, of Sayadhangara Madhyapara in the town and Liton Sheikh, 40, of the same area.

Saddam Hossain, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station and also Investigation Officer (IO) of the case said that, the girl student was abducted by a group of youths at around 11:00 am on Wednesday, while going to school. One of the youth named Solaiman took her to a rented house of Majeda Khatun next to a temple in Shialkol Baza’ar in Sadar upazila and raped her forcibly. Liton and others helped him to rape her. At one stage, the 14-year-old girl, also resident in the town, escaped from the spot and returned to home. In the evening, the victim’s mother filed a case with the respective police station. Three people were made accused with names in the case, while three others were accused as unnamed.”

He also said that, after filling the case, a drive was launched and the accused Solaiman and Liton were arrested. They were sent to jail through the court on Thursday morning. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused.
