Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, director Raihan Rafi has released the first official poster of the much-discussed film Pressure Cooker. Sharing the poster on Facebook, he wrote, “See you on Eid-ul-Fitr, in your nearest cinema hall.”

The poster features four female characters-Shobnom Bubly, Nazifa Tushi, Snigdha Chowdhury and Maria Chowdhury. The visuals of this hero-less film clearly indicate that women are at the centre of the story.

In a message accompanying the poster’s release, Rafi wrote, “Dhaka city is actually a pressure cooker for women. If you can’t tolerate their screams, this pressure cooker whistles. Neither can they get out of this city, nor can this city get out of them…”

He also expressed hope that the film will set a new trend in commercial Bengali cinema.

Produced under the banner of Impress Telefilm, the film is backed by Faridur Reza Sagar and Raihan Rafi. It is learnt that Pressure Cooker will highlight the different journeys of four women as they navigate the pressures of Dhaka’s urban life, social conflicts and personal struggles.

At a time when hero-driven stories still dominate Dhallywood, Pressure Cooker has naturally generated curiosity among audiences for being an entirely female-led project.

Since the release of the poster, discussion about the film-aimed for release during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr—has intensified. The audience is now eager to see how strongly Rafi portrays women’s urban struggles within the framework of commercial cinema.
