Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-12 has arrested two counterfeit note traders and seized about 13,15,700 fake notes by conducting consecutive drives in Solonga area of Sirajganj district. Two mobile phones were also seized during the drive.

This information was confirmed in a press release signed by Sirajganj Hatikumrul RAB-12 Commander (Additional DIG) Atiqur Rahman Mia on Monday (March 30) at around 1:45 pm.

Acting on a tip off, a team of RAB raided Hatikumrul area near Mayer Anchol restaurant and arrested Rabiul Islam and Abul Hasan along with 51,000 fake notes.

According to their confessional statement, RAB along with the arrested conducted another raid at the house of Hakim Sheikh in neighboring Dhopakandi village and recovered more 12,64,700 counterfeit notes of BDT.

During the initial interrogation, the accused confessed that, huge quantity of fake notes have been released across the country by a syndicate after issuing the new notes by the interim government as it is easier to counterfeit than the previous notes due to notes’ poor quality.

Taking the advantage, the arrested have been carrying fake note trading in the area deceiving the public eyes. A conventional case has been lodged with Solonga PS against the arrestees in this connection.
