A petition seeking the filing of a case against former chief adviser to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum and five others over deaths linked to Haam or measles, was submitted to a Dhaka court on Monday.
The application was filed by Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Iqbal, a member of parliament from the Kishoreganj-5 constituency, before the court of Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam.
The court recorded the plaintiff’s statement and kept the matter pending for an order at a later date.
The other individuals named in the petition include former Health Secretary Saidur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Health Affairs Dr. Sayedur Rahman and former Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services Dr. Abu Zafar.
Former Dhaka Bar Association president Golam Mustafa Khan appeared before the court on behalf of the plaintiff.
