National Rural Development Day-2026 was observed in Sirajganj on Monday.

Marking the day, a colorful procession was also brought out in the town that marched the main streets. Besides this, a discussion meeting was also held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner’s office, in where checks of loan and tree saplings were distributed among cooperatives. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Aminul Islam was present at the events as the chief guest.

The programmes were organized under the joint initiative of the District Administration and Bangladesh Rural Development Board, Sirajganj.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ganapati Roy, Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Md. Hafizur Rahman, Sirajganj Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Mamun Khan, District BNP General Secretary Md. Saidur Rahman Bachchu, Vice President Bir Muktijoddha Azizur Rahman Dulal, District Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Maulana Md. Shahinur Alam and others were also present at the event as special guests.

At the discussion meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the role of the Rural Development Board in strengthening rural development, employment generation, self-employment and cooperative-based development activities.

He said that, everyone should work together to ensure sustainable rural development and to reach the marginalized communities with the benefits of various government programmes.

At the end of the programme, tree saplings and loan checks were distributed among the members of various cooperative societies.
