TDS Desk:

Bangladesh Bank has directed all scheduled banks to resolve disciplinary complaints and cases against officers and employees within two months, in line with their service rules.

The Banking Regulation and Policy Department (BRPD) issued the directive through BRPD Circular Letter No. 24 on Sunday and sent it to the managing directors and chief executive officers of all scheduled banks.

The central bank said the move amends Article 2(b) of BRPD Circular Letter No. 6, issued on May 4, 2005, which provided guidelines on the appointment of employees from one bank to another to prevent disciplinary issues in the banking sector.

The amendment aligns the time limit for resolving disciplinary complaints and cases with the Bangladesh Labour Rules, 2015.

Under the revised provision, “If a disciplinary case is pending against any officer/employee, the case shall be disposed of within two months as per the service rules.”

Bangladesh Bank said all other provisions of the 2005 circular would remain unchanged. The directive was issued under Section 45 of the Banking Companies Act, 1991, and banks have been instructed to implement it immediately.
