The people especially those, who earn through labouring and live hand to mouth, are leading miserable life amid the ongoing heat-wave that sweeping over the country for the last few days.

Many of them have started offering prayers for rains at different places in the country. Sensing the sufferings of the people, some people in Sirajganj led by Zilla Parishad Chairman Alhaz Md. Shamim Talukder Labu took position at the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge under Soydabad union of Sirajganj Sadar upazila on the Dhaka-North Bengal highway along with bottles of water and saline for the thirsty commuters.

At that time, a team of volunteers in presence of Acting Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Anisur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Bangabandhu Western Police Station Abdul Quader Zilani, Panel Chairman Shariful Islam Tazful and Panel Chairman Aminul Islam distributed the water bottles along with saline to the commuters to drink them in a bid to reduce their sufferings amid the scorching heat.
