Loans and saplings of various tree species have been distributed among members of a farmers’ cooperative society under the initiative of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) in Shahjadpur of Sirajganj.

The distribution took place on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026, targeting 30 members of the Karshalika Sikdar Para Farmers’ Cooperative Society in the upazila.

Organised as part of government directives and rural development activities, the programme aims to empower farmers financially while encouraging tree plantation to maintain ecological balance.

Shahjadpur Upazila Rural Development Officer Md. Selim Reza, Shahjadpur UCCL President Abdullah Al-Mahmud, and Assistant Rural Development Officer Md. Zulfikar Ali were present at the event, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, BRDB officials highlighted various government initiatives designed to improve the living standards of rural communities, boost farmers’ financial capacity, and accelerate cooperative-based activities. They urged members to utilize the loans effectively for agriculture and income-generating endeavors, while emphasizing proper planting and care of the distributed saplings to safeguard the environment.

Participating members of the cooperative society warmly welcomed the BRDB initiative and expressed their gratitude.
