A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment in a case filed over seizure of heroin in capital in 2017.

Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman passed the verdict in absence of the convict and issued arrest warrant against him. The court also fined him Tk 20,000.

The convict is Mehedi Hasan.

According to the case documents, on February 12, 2017, police arrested Mehedi with 85 grams of heroin from Nakhalpara area.

Sub-inspector Md Rezaul Karim of Tejgaon Industrial Zone Police Station filed the case under narcotics control act.

Police submitted charge-sheet against Mehedi and the court on July 16, 2017, framed charges against the sole accused.
