Two friends were killed after a truck rammed their bike at Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar district on Sunday night.

The accident happened around 10.30pm on the Matamuhuri bridge in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Abdullah, 20, son of Siddique Ahmed,  and Md Mostofa, 21, son of Md Ziauddin, both were residents of Moulvirchar area under ward No. 2 of Chakaria municipality.

Locals and police said that Abdullah and Mostofa were going to local bazaar riding on a motorbike. On the way, a speeding truck ran over their bike from opposite direction, leaving the duo dead on the spot.

Chiringa Highway Police Station officer-in-charge Mahbubul Haque Bhuiyan confirmed the death matter and said that they have identified the truck and efforts are on to arrest its driver.
