A Sirajganj court has sentenced a woman to life term imprisonment for killing her husband over extra marital affairs.

Sirajganj Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-2 Judge Md Abul Bashar Mia passed the verdict on Sunday.

The court fined the convict Tk 50,000, in default, to serve six more months to jail.

The convict was Mayna Khatun, 30, daughter of Mojdar Ali of Charuimuri village of Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district.

After marriage, Mayna had been staying at her father’s house. On September 21, 2012, Babu came to his in-laws house. In the afternoon, Mayna strangulated him to death and spread a rumor that Babu committed suicide.

Following the incident, father of Babu filed a case against seven people, including his daughter-n-law Mayna and her lover Ahmed Ali, with the Ullapara Police Station.

Later, police submitted a chargesheet against Mayna and Ahmed Ali.

After recording the deposition of the witnesses, the court on Sunday sentenced her life term imprisonment and acquitted Ahmed Ali as charges brought against him was not proven.
