Now, a friend of OSD revenue officer Matiur Rahman, who was discussed over the goat scandal, has been found. That friend’s name is Arjina Khatun, a subordinate of Matiur. She also made a “mountain of illegal wealth” with the help of her friend!

What does Arjina Khatun’s not have! She has flats in the capital Dhaka, luxurious houses in the villages, numerous lands in the names of family members, lavish interiors and expensive furniture. These allegations have come against Arjina Khatun to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

It is learned that Arjina Khatun has become the owner of 500 bhori of gold ornaments in only three years! Among these, 200 bhoris were “smuggled”, mentions ACC. In the meantime, some of Arjina’s phone conversations with Matiur have also been spread in the media.

Arjina Khatun is the second secretary of VAT Monitoring, Statistics and Coordination at the National Board of Revenue (NBR). Earlier, she was deputy commissioner at Chattogram Customs House.

Meanwhile, NBR officials and employees have alleged that this female officer has received many “immoral benefits” only as Matiur Rahman’s female friend.

On June 10, a person filed a written complaint against Arjina Khatun at ACC. It is said that Arjina Khatun became the owner of huge wealth by colluding with false information, money laundering, gold smuggling ring and corruption.

In the complaint submitted to ACC, it is said that after her transfer to Chattogram, Arjina Khatun bought 5 lands in the name of her family members in the village in 2022 – its market value is half a crore takas. The documents of those lands were also found. Besides, Arjina has taken a mortgage of about one crore takas of land in the village.

Those close to Arjina Khatun said that most of the jewelry used by her is “very expensive”. She has diamond jewelry worth at least Tk 10 lakh.

It is reported that between 2018 and 2023, Arjina Khatun bought at least 500 bhoris of gold and diamond ornaments in cash, among this, information and documentary evidence of 200 bhoris being smuggled through a C&F trader in 3 phases has been submitted with the complaint to the ACC. She also has been involved in the share business since 2022. Arjina also exemplifies “double profit” by investing Tk 10 lakhs in one day. She also has huge cash in three bank accounts and investments in savings bonds.

Allegedly, after having a close relationship with Matiur Rahman, Arjina Khatun’s property started increasing rapidly. She had invested in a share business in the same brokerage house with Matiur. It is alleged that Matiur himself gave Arjina profit in the stock market by manipulation.

Meanwhile, an audio record of Matiur-Arjina’s mobile phone conversation was leaked recently. It also hinted at sensitive obscenities talk between them, which has already gone viral on social media.
