An art exhibition titled “Embracing Inharmonious” will begin at Kala Kendra gallery in the capital’s Lalmatia area on Friday.
The inaugural ceremony will be held on the gallery premises at 5:30 pm. Feminist, environmentalist and social activist Khushi Kabir and architect Saif Ul Haque will attend the ceremony as the special guests.
Curated by Lala Rukh Selim, the exhibition features artworks of artists Masuda Khatun Jui and Jafrin Gulshan.
Masuda Khatun Jui and Jafrin Gulshan have created art in their own way by using the elements that teach to think, and make sense of life in their respective environment through thinking, perception, sensitivity and critical eye. This is their meeting place. But their expression is different.
The artist Jafrin Gulshan’s artistic journey always develop from the individual to the collective. When she brings out her experience of femininity, motherhood in art, it is not only her personal experience. Permeating through environment, society, politics, her ideas are coherent and present a larger space. The complexity of her thought is expressed in the interwoven arrangement of various types of images. Sometimes it crosses two dimensions and manifests itself in the form of construction.
On the other hand, Masuda Khatun Jui’s thought begins to focus on her surrounding life. She finds the narrative of existence in the shapes of the people and things she sees on her daily walk. In the case of Jui, the collective has evoked thoughts of personal crisis. In addition to two-dimensional paintings, she also made installations. She also uses common people’s clothes, furniture, beams, etc. as materials of her painting.
In this exhibition “Embracing Inharmonious” Jafarin and Jui have tried to express their experienced thoughts through art.
The exhibition will continue every day from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm till 15 October.
