BD exports fall 7pc in May

Despite the annual decline, export earnings increased by nearly 10% compared with April, indicating a month-on-month recovery.

Bangladesh’s export earnings declined by 7.07% year-on-year in May, reversing the strong growth recorded in April, according to data published by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) today (3 June).

The country exported goods worth approximately $4 billion in May, down from $4.73 billion during the same month of the previous fiscal year.

Despite the annual decline, export earnings increased by nearly 10% compared with April, indicating a month-on-month recovery.

The latest figures also show that Bangladesh’s cumulative merchandise exports during the first 11 months of fiscal year 2025-26 (July-May) fell by 2.55% from a year earlier.

During the period, the country exported goods worth $43.80 billion, compared with $44.95 billion in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
