TDS Desk:
A 72-hour blockade of roads and waterways is underway across Khagrachari, Rangamati and Bandarban following clashes between indigenous and Bengali communities.
The “CHT Blockade” began at 6:00 am on Saturday, disrupting long-distance transport services in the hill districts.
On Friday, indigenous Jumma people called for the blockade in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, demanding justice for those killed in the clashes.
Meanwhile, the Transport Owners’ Association in Rangamati declared an indefinite strike from Saturday morning, protesting the burning of buses, trucks, and CNG-run auto-rickshaws during the unrest.
The strike has caused significant disruption for the public.
Notably, four indigenous people were killed in the clashes in Khagrachari and Rangamati on Thursday and Friday, with at least 72 others injured and several reports of arson attacks
