Desk Report:

The cabinet did not accept the recommendation to extend the public holiday by one day (April 9) on the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Fitr. This time the Eid holiday will be three days on April 10, 11, and 12 as previously announced.

However, in reality, government employees will enjoy more leave. Because Saturday, April 13 is a weekend. The next day Sunday is the Pohela Baisakh holiday. That means there are five consecutive days off. Before this, April 7 is a public holiday on the occasion of Holy Shabbat Qadr. Before that, 5th and 6th April is Friday and Saturday weekend. As a result, if an employee can take leave on April 8 and 9, then he can enjoy long leave.

In a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order held at the Secretariat last Sunday, it was recommended to extend the holiday on April 9 by one day. But it was not approved.

After the Cabinet meeting,  Mahbub Hossain, the Secretary of the Cabinet held a press conference at the Secretariat on Monday afternoon. He said the office will be open there on April 8 and 9 before the holy

Eid-ul-Fitr. He said, there is an optional leave system. Those who apply in the prescribed manner can take this leave. There is no need to give separate instructions for this. It’s on vacation. When the holidays are calendared each year, it is written below.

Citing the report of the Meteorological Department and other topics, the Cabinet Secretary said there is a high possibility that the month of Ramadan will be 30 days this year.
