The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Cantonment Police Station (PS) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Md Rakibul Islam, has been withdrawn after allegedly saying that if ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina returns home, nothing will happen.

DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed confirmed the withdrawal on Thursday, September 17.

Recently, an audio recording went viral on social media platforms in which Rakibul allegedly made comments about the return of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

In the audio, Rakibul was heard saying, “Nothing will happen to Sheikh Hasina if she returns home in December.”

He was also heard saying, “She should come home this month instead of waiting for December, as police in the streets are so weak. Police can do nothing.”

The audio has been circulating widely on social media platforms and in the mass media for the last two days, sparking discussions and criticism.
