Gazipur Correspondent:

A couple has been killed after getting hit by a bus at Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur. The accident took place on Sunday (April 14) around noon in the bypass area of Dhaka-Tangail highway.

The deceased are Asif, son of Mozammel Haque of Baraitali village of Kaliakair Upazila, and his wife Tanjim.

Shahadat Hossain, OC of Naojor Highway Police confirmed the matter.

He said that a Tangail-bound bus ran over Asif Mahmud and his wife Tanjim while crossing the highway at the Kaliakoi bypass area of the Dhaka-Tangail highway. They were seriously injured. Locals rescued them and they died on the way to Savar Enam Medical College Hospital. Later, police recovered the bodies of the couple and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. The bus was impounded, but the driver escaped.
