Derogatory remarks on judiciary: 2 SC lawyers seeks apology

Two Supreme Court lawyers Mohammad Mohsen Rashid and Shah Ahmed Badal have sought an unconditional apology to the Appellate Division for making derogatory statements about judiciary in a letter to the chief justice.

They sought the apology on Sunday after appearing before a Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan.

Lawyer Rashid said,”We are seeking apology. Very sorry. Will not write such a letter again.”

Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum on December 27, last year, at a press briefing announced the the court boycott programm from January 1-7. Later, the two lawyers Mohammad Mohsen Rashid and Shah Ahmed Badal sent a letter to the chief justice on the court boycott programme. They also used some objectionable words in the letters which was similar to the contempt of court.

After receiving the latter, a five-member Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan summoned the two lawyers. As per the summon, Rashid and Badal were appeared before the court on January 11. Then the court ordered them to refrain from case procedures for four weeks.
