After former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina resigned on August 5 amid an anti-discrimination student uprising, the vice-chancellors of the country’s public universities, who were appointed politically faced the wrath of students. Some voluntarily and others resigned in the face of a student protest ultimatum. As a result, 45 government universities in the country became without vice-chancellors. To eliminate that situation, the interim government is appointing vice-chancellors in all universities.
