Private television channel, Gaan Bangla’s chairman Koushik Hossain Taposh and actress Shomi Kaiser have been sent to jail by a court in an attempt to murder case filed with Utatra East Police Station.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaque passed the order on Saturday (November 9).
Earlier they were brought at court by police. Then investigation officer (IO) of the case and Uttara East Police Station sub-inspector Md Mohibullah pleaded to the court to keep the accused in jail for the fair probe into the case.
On the other hand, counsels of the defendants pleaded to the court to grant their clients bail. However, the state side opposed the bail. After the hearing was over, the judge ordered to send the accused to jail.
A court placed them on a three-day remand each on November 6 last. Earlier, Taposh was arrested from Vatara in the capital at night of November 3, while actress Shomi Kaiser was arrested from Uttara at night of November 5.
