Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that there is no tension at Bangladesh’s border, asserting that the situation remains stable.

A meeting between the chiefs of the Border Guard Bangladesh and the India Border Security Force will be held next month to discuss the border situation, the adviser said on Tuesday afternoon during a discussion meeting at the Shaheed Shahabuddin Auditorium of Mymensingh City Corporation.

Jahangir said the investigation of police cases will remain with the police and there is no scope for transferring it to any other agency.

Members of various police units are also working in special tribunals, he added.

In response to a question from the media, the adviser, who also oversees the Ministry of Agriculture, said there is no fertilizer crisis in the country.

Strict measures will be taken against those creating an artificial crisis or making excessive profits, he said, adding that the licences of accused dealers will be cancelled.
